A Eulogy: Celebrating Sarah

Hegazi’s Legacy 21/6/2020

“Legacy. What is a Legacy? It’s planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda

Sarah Hegazi was an Egyptian Queer activist, socialist, and a writer who sought asylum in Canada after being imprisoned, tortured, and sexually assaulted in Cairo for waving the rainbow flag at a Mashrou' Leila concert.

Her strong stance and unwavering commitment to freedom moved all of us, and we wished to celebrate her life with the help of The 519. “Freedom to your soul” Sarah.
