Safe GLitch - 10/9/2021

After six hours of hilarious discussion and numerous silly attempts at coming up with a name, we landed on “Safe Glitch.” The summer of 2021, a summer caught between pandemic waves, was lived as a summer of running around, throwing ourselves at parks, and meeting all the people whom we haven’t seen in a while. As the city awakened from a pandemic-laden hibernation, parks stood out as the place to be. Every weekend, performers and DJs took over city-parks for clandestine raves. We neither wanted to throw a “conventional” rave nor wished it to be hidden. We set up an open-stage in the middle of Riverdale Park and invited everyone. Even the neighbourhood teens showed up! And, Safe Glitch came to be: a night of dancing, live music, bumping DJ sets, psychedelic projections, and performative art pieces on shared-ground.
