On the first new moon of 2023, Pomegranate and the Burning Man collectives met to reignite the fire that is collaborative creation and community. One of the principles of Burning Man is immediacy - the concept that the moment of experiencing itself is sacred and uncontainable. Reignite established the shared ground upon which we could dance, make art and connect with one another.

Pom and the Burn are both participatory in their natures. The sonic adventure of the night was carried by seven different performers. Sina Bathaie set the stage with his transcendental and hypnotic sound and we ended with Adjowa and some heavy bass as the sun rose.

There was live painting by Sasha - on canvas, and Natasha - on faces. As more and more people returned to the dancefloor with their faces suddenly made magic we became one group of dancing and marked humans. There is a ritual felt in the body when your visage shifts to reflect those around you. Some aspect of your individuality in the dark melts away as we move together into harmony.

In the bohemian inspired lounge overhanging the dance floor a huge canvas was spread for art making. As the night continued so too did the canvas become ever more complex, shifting into a tapestry of different styles, colors and stories told through images.

If you were there, thank you for your presence, we were able to create home with our shared realities. If you missed it, make sure you make it to the next one.
